Dr. Stephen Wangensteen is not very "horsey", but enjoys the people and oversees the business aspects of the Farm. He is the author of this website and does not warrant a picture, but pictures of his close associate are shown. "Peewee" passed away on August 3, 2004 after a prolonged illness. Her loving family mourn her loss and will never forget her extraordinary love, devotion and loyalty. Her contributions to Pear Tree cannot be overestimated.

Lita Wangensteen is the principle trainer. She has devoted a lifetime to horses and is a recognized A-Rated Hunter and Jumper judge. She has judged many of the major AHSA horse shows in the country, including the National at Madison Square Garden, the Cow Palace in San Francisco, and Devon in Pennsylvania. Some of the Hunters discovered and started under her eye have been National Champions. Gozzi, Stocking Stuffer, Henry the Hawk, and Many Times have been high score AHSA winners. One colt she purchased as a weanling named Rocky Racoon was best young horse at Devon, and later became a jumper and held the outdoor high jump record. In addition to "Wee Be Famous", winner of the yearling and 2 year old classes at Devon and overall VHSA yearling futurity winner, are more Pear Tree "breds". "Billfold" was the overall winner of the Virginia yearling futurity and "Scandal Sheet" was the Reserve filly. As noted on our Homepage, Celebration and Rabbit Redford were the Champion and Reserve Champion of all Young Horses at Devon in 2002. Also, Billfold was Grand Champion of the Midwest Regional of the International Hunter Futurity. Lita has clearly established herself as a leading owner/breeder of Conformation horses.
